Christine Montague

My realistic oil paintings of scenic figuratives, portraiture and nature, have the common theme of escape, longing and solitude without loneliness. The people and landscapes I know and feel a passion for inspire my paintings. In turn, I strive to create uplifting, beautiful paintings that evoke memory, solace and hope.

In 2014, I began the series ‚ÄúPolar Bear Dreams‚ÄĚ. Blue monochromatic images of polar bears are tributary portraits of concern about this mighty bear. In May of this year, I visited Nunavut, to gain more than an imaginary vision of the north, and, and with this new insight to the north, will continue to explore this theme.

I paint traditional large-scale portraiture and accept portrait-painting commissions. I was awarded the commission of Dr. Oscar Peterson, Living Arts Centre, Mississauga, Ontario. As well, I have an online business, , that specializes in traditional portraiture oil painting , faces only, on 6″ x 6″ canvases.

Until recently, I maintained an open studio & gallery at the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre, an arts destination. I enjoyed knowing my collectors and creating in a collective like setting. I presently work out of my Mississauga studio and sell my work directly online. My art can be viewed at www.
